Homemade Crispy Sesame Chicken
Sweet and
salty chicken sesame recipe that will please the crowd, on rice or noodles. It
is perfect for dinner and makes the chicken the most tender and tasty.
Ingredients
For the
chicken
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 1 inch pieces
- salt and pepper
- oil for frying
For the
sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
Instructions
First, Whip
the eggs and add them in a bowl with salt and pepper to taste.
Then, Mix
the flour with 1/2 cup of cornstarch in a bowl.
Dip each
piece of chicken in the egg mixture, then in the flour. Repeat the process with
all the chicken.
Heat 3
inches of oil in a deep pan at 350 degrees F
When the oil
is hot, add about 8 pieces of chicken at a time and cook for 5 minutes or until
crisp and golden. Repeat with all the chicken.
Drain the
chicken on a paper towel-lined plate.
Meanwhile,
while the chicken is cooking, mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice
vinegar, sesame oil and 2 tbsp. At a cornstarch in a bowl.
Heat the
tablespoon of sesame oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Cook the garlic
for 30 seconds, then add the sauce and simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until
thickened.
Add chicken
and mix to coat with sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then
