Lasagna Stuffed Shells
Stuffed
shells with all your favorite lasagna: ricotta, mozzarella, ground beef and
fresh basil
Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1 lb sausage or hamburger
- 2 cups of your favorite spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
- 20 jumbo pasta shells
- 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
Instructions
First, Bring
a large bottle of water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook following the
instructions on the package. Drain the noodles and set aside.
Then, Preheat
your oven to 350 degrees. Spread 1/2 cup of your tomato sauce in the bottom of
a 9x9 dish.
Add the raw
sausages in a hot skillet and cook until golden brown. Stir in 1 cup of your
tomato sauce and set aside.
In a small
bowl, mix ricotta, 1/2 cup mozzarella, parmesan, egg and spinach. Stir the
mixture with your sausage.
Pour a
copious amount of the filling into each shell. Place in your prepared baking
dish and continue until everything is filled. Smother with remaining sauce half
and sprinkle liberally with mozzarella.
Cover with
foil and bake for 20 minutes. Discover and continue cooking for another 10
minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Freezing
instructions:
Follow the
instructions above until cooking time. Cover securely with heavy duty aluminum
foil or a freezer container.
Take out
your stuffed shells from the freezer the night before cooking. Let them lightly
defrost in the refrigerator.
Bake at 350
degrees, covered, for 45 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil and cook another 20
